In an ultimate slap in the face to the American worker, Republicans today are posting on their Facebook and Twitter “Happy National Empty Chair Day“.
Empy Chair Day is a play on Clint Eastwood’s recent speech at the Republican National Convention, where the classic actor decided to have a conversation with Invisible Obama. In a show of solidarity with Clint Eastwood and Mitt Romney’s constant disrespect for the working class, for some reason there is a massive outpouring of support from the right for this ridiculous trend.
National Empty Chair Day originally picked up steam on Twitter, where #emptychairday became a massive trend Monday morning. Republican tweeters began to lurk around their home and offices, posing their favorite chairs and claiming that Obama was hanging out with them.
Soon, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Matt Drudge, Michelle Malkin and even staffers at Breitbart.com joined in the trend, forsaking in semblance of media ethics for this impromptu event.
Communist ex-patriot Michelle Malkin explained why she jumped the trend: “It’s fun. It’s funny.” “Clint Eastwood resonated with voters outside the snotty, derisive NY-DC-Hollywood axis. He braved derision and ridicule for standing on the convention stage. Activists on the right wanted to demonstrate … their appreciation. As always, humor is the best medicine.”
