A lawsuit filed Wednesday accuses the Motion Picture Association of America of hiring a hacker to steal information from Torrentspy.com a parent of Valence Media. Torrentspy's complaint includes claims that the man whom the MPAA allegedly paid $15,000 to steal e-mail correspondence and trade secrets has admitted his role in the plot and is cooperating with the company.

Sorry but the other aritcall is old, so im going to post a comment on here instead. The mpaa is wrong, the law is not on their side. Torrentspy does not host any illegal files, its just points people in the right direction. For instance, its not illegal to know where a drug dealer is, its illegal to buy the drugs. Mpaa needs to go away, i buy all the movies i download and like....i cant help it if their all janapanese and not hollywood!!!!

Score for TorrentSpy!

The RIAA and MPAA are barking up the wrong tree. They're on the loosing side of the fence and can't stand it that they're doomed to failure.

It simply bottoms down to greed.

Instead of understanding and exploiting the usage of the medium in the digital era, maybe loosing a few million (instead of a suposibly a few "billion" - which is greatly over exagerated - just because you d/l it doesn't mean you would have bought it) but still keeping the revenue high, they are stuck with old ideas and approaches which no longer have as much effect, but rather create a very negative public image.

No matter what they do, people will find a way to get it. Learn to deal with it.

Besides, the movie theaters are always a good bet. Girls needs to get their tummies filled with popcorn before getting filled with babies. :P (that was horrible to say, I know, I apologize for that :p)

Their greed will be the end of them. Just as history repeats itself, so will this.

Just as the above guy said ^^ I agree that the RIAA and MPAA are just digging themselves a hole, did anyone else hear about in Canada a group of artists who are so fed up with the RIAA ways that they have become independant, I think i read about it on isohunt.com, anyway, it shows that the RIAA are not doing their job properly, their rules need to be modernised or people will just ignore them.

Hopefully this will really screw the MPAA and they'll receive a substantial fine. As was said above with the RIAA, most of the money that they get from sales doesn't go to the artiest, it's something like about 5% of it does, they don't just screw the consumers they screw the artists too.

We'll need at least 800 million in damages, plus a 85% garnishment of profits for the next 130 years.

That oughta put a cork in their stovepipe. :D

Fuck the RIAA and the MPAA. Right up their fucking tightwad assholes. Seriously, their assholes are so tight when they fart they call dolphins. They need to quit messing with people and learn to make money doing other things - like making better movies that people will actually buy, and dropping the prices to something that us poor hardworking stiffs can actually afford.

the4thwallOn Iran, From an American Iranian
I have an Iranian background, so throughout my life I've been bombarded with opinions on the country. Not only that, both my parents were involved in the late 70's revolution, and saw youth that helped Khomeini get to power being shot down by Khomeini's followers afterwards. That's the problem with revolutions, sometimes a power vacuum can destroy what could be a beautifull transformation. On top of that, I have dual citizen ship, and voted in the last election, whi...

KhramHappy Canada Day!
Today is the day the greatest nation that ever existed on Earth began 142 years ago. Canadians have much to be proud of. However, even the greatest nation on Earth still has its problems. The Russians threaten our airspace with their shitty planes and violate our sovereign waters with their submarines up in the Arctic. We should be shooting their planes down and sinking their subs as they cross our borders without warning. None of our politicians have the balls to at...
