"I stand before you today with the strength and clarity and resolve to declare to the military, my government and the world that this soldier will not be deploying to Iraq," Chiroux said in the sun-filled rotunda of a congressional building in Washington.

to those of u who bashed this... u are idiots. to black stallion.. u need to take your Bush loving ass somewhere and kill urself. this man served his country. he has been in the military for six years and now they want to senf him to iraq. he should desert. why should anybody go somewhere where he will more than likely die. this "war" is a fraudulent means for power and wealth thats it. Bush and the other cronies responsible for this need to be brought up on war crimes charges and put before the firing squad. btw. the schools in this country provide the military with the names and addresses of students. they are requires to by law.

Deserter.

1. First he blames Army recruiters and his poor education. Not valid excuses.

2. Then he decides that the war is illegal and unconstitutional. Well, if the President ordered it with the approval of Congress, it's both legal and constitutional. Not valid excuses.

BlackStallion,
Soldiers are the people Society needs to express their opinions the most. American Soldiers are paid by the taxpayer, not by Bush. They owe their allegiance to the taxpayer, not Bush. Bush purposefully avoided the proper procedures of going to Congress to declare war, a war whose only justification is greed for oil. The "ONLY" reason Bush and his buddies aren't being tried and hung for genocide is the size of his army, period. He's clearly betrayed the American people, the American Constitution, and his own Armed Forces. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's have died and been permanently maimed because of this asshole. Hundreds of thousands of young Americans have been maimed, some killed because of this asshole. What if some asshole President down the road decides to assume absolute power in the US and trash your way of life! Are the US troops supposed to blindly follow this hypothetical Dictator as you would expect?, or protect the Constitution and the way of life of Americans?

You're missing the point of why this young man is featured. Sure, he voluntarily signed up for the armed forces. His motive may have been that of money, duty to country or wanting to be productive in life. When he signed up, however, he expected to not be put in situations where he felt he was compromising his integrity and values. He didn't think that he'd be in a situation where he'd have to question the ordered actions of the armed forces.

This soldier explicitly states, and very eloquently for a kid I may add, why he has a problem with the action being taken in Iraq right now. What media pundits and politicians have to dance around, he outright stated.

What I respect about this kid is that he's still taking responsibility for his actions. He didn't try to run to Canada, or flee to nations south of the US. He stood before Congress and expressed his heartfelt beliefs before his peers, Congress and the American people, and is willing to take whatever punishment (did you catch that part?) he may have to endure for his stance.

If he didn't want to go to war then why did he voluntarily (not like he was drafted) join the army in a time of war? Now he has a responsibility to follow orders until his contract is up. He's a photojournalist it's not like he's gonna be out there killing anybody. Desertion is illegal in the military so his 'illegal war' excuse is hypocritical. It's a bitch move. Grab some nuts and go fight like a man.

Howdy everybody, Joe Sixpack here. I never met you all before, but I was having some pops last night with my bud Fido and he said if I wrote this down, he’d fix up the spellun’ and put it on the internet. He’s mostly full of shit, but I did it anyway. This is about Thursday night. The wife had the kids at football practice and going by her sister’s and I was home tipping back some cold ones and looking for something to watch on TV. I seen the debate thing was on b...

As we know, everyone in Washington DC are assholes of varying degree. Last week we called Sarah Palin out for being a dumb cunt and an asshole. And that's coming from me. If you're actually voting for Palin, people named cadpig, you're a dumb asshole enabler. Palin is worthless and would have the US on a road to destruction that would involve hurting our allies too. What's even more disturbing than people who watched Palin on Katie Couric wanting to vote for her ...
