More soliders are dying by suicide caused by the stress of the war than by enemy bullets! But the government doesn't have to report them as casualties!

So basically, if today's soldier were thrust into something truly frightening such as WW2 or Vietnam, we would of lost due to a bunch of pussies crying instead of shooting. You're there to kill boy, get 'er done! Oh, your "friend" right next to you just died. Cry me a river. You should have known better than to get so close when you're all disposable heroes! The "war" in Iraq is no longer a war and it hasn't been for years. I wish everyone including the media would shut the fuck up about it being a war. It's just an occupation gone bad at this point.

I wouldn't even classify it as an "occupation gone bad".

Given that there have been no major terrorist attacks in this country since 9/11 and they've decreased significantly around the world since the occupation started I would say it's been a very successful campaign. If our troops can stabilize the country and leave a healthy prospering democracy in it's wake it's worth it if it takes even a decade or so.

But we gotta stop focusing on stupid things like suicides and occupation casualties. I think most would view the Civil War as a success because it ended slavery. But almost 100,000 soldiers died at the battle of Gettysburg in 3 days of fighting.

Purpose of any war is to destroy the enemies will to resist so this means any kind of victory is going to come at the cost of some casualties.

The only other option would be to surrender and the carnage that would result from that option is unimaginable.

I don't where you read that terrorism decreased in any significant fashion but it's a load of shit.

Bunch of pussies. Man-the-fuck-up!

And they call themselves warriors?

Look at the millions of guys in WWII that went through absolute hell - didn't see millions of them coming home wearing panties and sucking each other's dicks in self pity.

Ed Roberts, you have 0 respect for the men in uniform doing their jobs.
I don't see you out there getting IED's sprung up on you or getting sent back for multiple tours like some 80,000 soldiers have had done.

Figurefaster:

Everything you've said there is a load of crap. There was numerous attacks after 911. It is an illegal operation gone bad, and your excuse that there's been no further attacks is a fucking joke. How many were there before 911 and Bush's make believe laws kicked in?

You can't use false positives to justify something that was already negligible to
begin with.

Your theory doesn't make sense. Iraqi's didn't attack the US or commit any terrorist attacks against the US! Saudi's civilians did. As far as stabilizing Iraq, America blew it to shit in the first place, killing hundreds of thousands of civilians, for what? Oil and the Dollar Hegemony. Simple as that. All the countries on America's hit list except North Korea have one thing in common. They switched or are switching to the Euro and Yen from OPEC's forced Dollar Hegemony.
I knew a couple of old fellows who fought in WW2, and they didn't come home unscathed. They tend to try and forget the hell they were in. I have had one fellow break down decades after it ended. It must have been a terrible time!

Those are different wars getting differently on your nerves . WW2 was real , terrible war , with real good guys and bad guys . Soldiers had evil enemies in front of them and grateful liberated population in the back . The whole point was to kill the bad guys , try to survive and get back home as a hero .

First Afganistan war , Vietnam , The Troubles in Northern Ireland , Second Afganistan war , Iraq - any of these wars produced more suicidal and broken , fucked up people , because they were fucked up wars , with no real reason to be there , vague moral justification , guerilla warfare , blurred line between civilians and combatants , backstabs .

I assure you , when you invaded Iraq kicked Saddam's ass , destroyed his army and proclaimed : "Mission Accomplished" , that did not produce any suicidal or crying soldiers . That was real war . After that real war was finished and fucked up war began .

The banner stating "Mission Accomplished" according to Navy Commander and Pentagon spokesman Conrad Chun the banner referred specifically to the aircraft carrier's 10-month deployment (which was the longest deployment of a carrier since the Vietnam War) and not the war itself, saying "It truly did signify a mission accomplished for the crew.

so stop spreading your rhetoric propaganda.
