I got scary little email from my ISP today...

I just got THIS email:

4. How does a person most effectively conceal their IP address when using a torrent client?

my dad got in trouble for an even shittier movie, without a paddle
he was downloading on bearshare though

i would think this is just a warning at the moment
if you have a wireless router a good suggestion is to tell them you have no security on it and someone must have connected to your network from outside
no way to disprove this

I have gotten a couple of those in the last two years. Mine wasn't as threatening though. It basically said, "Please remove file from hard drive". So of course I burned it....done and done. I heard nothing more.
It probably is more of a scare tactic. It wouldn't be worth their time to try and hit you for ONE movie. Your provider would rather keep you as a paying customer, I would think.
They don't WANT to play police, they want to sell you innanet.

RIAA tried to subpena verizon, but verizon appealed, and won. I think. I'm no law expert...

additionally, it's more important to use safe torrent than anything. Use a safe torrent/a safe torrent site, and you'll be fine, for the most part
