Geez admin, I dont understand why my story's url was changed to one pointing to an India site. I believe the original one contained more details and even a picture of the drive. What's up with this?

The current url isn't even some sort of a true source.

For those who wish to read the originally submitted url:

@archangel080
there are aq lot of legal uses for this as well as illegal uses. Legal uses include full backups of data (such as backing up a DBMS and it's data) and the 50+ GB versions, when they come out, will let people image drives to a disk, making it ultra-portable and simple to setup computers in businesses.

What I mean is that the same could be said for CDs and DVDs...but there are some legal uses.

Im not saying there are no legal ways to use them.
If there were a way to see how today's DVD burners were used, Im just saying probably most of them are used for illegal purposes. Dont tell me the opposite because well... we're on a torrent site.

^^^
I never said they weren't...I know I'm on a torrent site. I'm just saying that we use DVDs a lot where I work for legitimate uses, and I think other businesses do the same. I'm not saying that home users usually use them for legal uses...

so we re usin red lasers now?....
/i thought blu had a longer wavelengthl...\]

Blue has a shorter wavelength than red, and thats why using a blue laser would mean being able to use smaller pits, effectively increasing the ability to store more data.

As long as using shorter wavelength, I wonder why they dont simply use lasers in the ultraviolet range...

crows, get your school science book out and look at a light spectrum chart. Blue lasers have a SHORTER wavelength. This allows the data to be printed smaller on the disc.

hase33, those holographic discs or their writers will NEVER be a consumer product. The machines will cost thousands of dollars and the discs will not be cost efficient, either.

archangel, because we haven't invented them, yet. Blue lasers are the best we have, currently.

quincy0191Infinity Ward VERSUS! Activision-Blizzard
The gaming world is abuzz with news of corporate villainy as Infinity Ward CEO Vince Zampella and president Jason West were fired last week under rather suspicious circumstances. According to reports, both employees were being “insubordinate” and their firing coincided with the arrival of some “bouncer types” on the Infinity Ward campus.This development just reeks of evil. The charges of insubordination are appropriately vague, and the additional fact that the firin...
