A few thought provoking tales but with an addendum...
In my wanderings on the Internet, I have come across several sites. Some have been gross, some amusing and others thought provoking.
The following site would fall into the thought provoking category.
http://makesmethink.com/top
People write a paragraph of something that happened to them, usually sad and/or touching.
Here's a few of them... with my own one line addendum to them.
1] Today, I asked my 6 year old son what he wants to be when he grows up. He said, "Mommy, all I want to be is happy."
Smug little bastard.
2] Today, I was traveling in Kenya and I met a refugee from Zimbabwe. He said he hadn't eaten anything in over 3 days and looked extremely skinny and unhealthy. Then my friend offered him the rest of the sandwich he was eating. The first thing the man said was, "We can share it."
My friend declined. No way was he going to share a meal with a nigger.
3] Today, my cousin died. He has been a Marine for 6 years. He fought for our country overseas on 3 separate tours in Iraq. He came home on leave 2 weeks ago and was killed by a drunk driver.
The driver happened to be of Iraqi origin.
4] Today, I am officially sober for 1 year. I have been an alcoholic for 10 years. Now I know we really can do anything we set our minds to.
Well anything except reversing 10 years worth of liver damage
5] Today, after spending every waking minute with her for 8 straight days, I knew I had to tell her just 1 thing. So just before she fell asleep, I whispered it in her ear. She smiled and said, "When I'm 75 and I think about what it was like to be young, I hope I can remember this very moment."
I doubted she would, I had slipped her a roofie earlier.
6] Today an old woman at the gas station came up to me and said, "I'm so embarrassed, but could you help me?" I thought she was going to ask for money, but she told me that last week her husband died and she had never pumped gas before. She had no idea what to do.
But I did. I pumped her good.
7] Today, I went ice skating. Everyone skating was young, except one guy in his mid-50’s. He kept falling down and smiling. And all the kids kept laughing along with him. I asked him why he decided to skate today. He said, "I was at work earlier and realized I had never been ice skating. So here I am."
''Fucking pedophile'' I thought to myself.
8] Today, I read about Obama protestors marching down public streets carrying loaded fire-arms. These protestors were not arrested. But gay and lesbian protestors elsewhere in this country have been harassed and arrested for simply holding hands and marching in solidarity.
That won't have happened if those queers were packing some guns.
9] Today, I was on a public transit bus when a Catholic nun boarded the bus and sat right next to a Muslim. I listened to them speak peacefully about their own God and beliefs for nearly 30 minutes until I reached my stop.
As soon as I got off, the muslim screamed out ''Jihad!'' and blew up the bus.
10] Today, my car broke down and I didn’t have any cash on me for a cab. As I fumbled with my cell, trying to call a friend, a man walked up and handed me $20. He said, “Here’s some money for a cab.” I thanked him and asked for his address so I could pay him back. He said, “Just pay it forward.”
I did. I headed straight to the nearest red light district and paid $20 for a $10 Cleaveland steamer.
11] Today, I had to go to a funeral for a 26 year old coworker of mine who had a stroke at work this week and was pronounced dead at the scene. He and his widow just got married last year, just bought a house last month, and just had a beautiful baby boy last week. And then just like that… he was gone.
His wife is pretty hot and the house has got a jacuzzi.
12] Today, as you were breaking up with me, all I could think about were those weekday mornings when you compared the Pop-Tarts and gave me the one with more frosting.
I got diabetes now you bitch.
13] Today, at a funeral reception, everyone had something kind to say about the deceased. As they spoke through their tears, many of them admitted that they wish they had told John how wonderful he was before he died.
Male gigolos are often unappreciated.
14] Today, a complete stranger outside a local coffee shop was holding a sign that said, "Free Hugs." I hesitated at first, but then I decided to give her a hug. Truthfully, it felt great!
A half hour later, I realised my wallet was missing.
15] Today, I took a pay cut so I could start spending more time with my 5 year old son. When I got home early, he ran into my arms with the brightest smile I've ever seen.
I carved that smile myself.
16] Today, I tucked my fiancé into bed. And as she fell asleep I started to sing a lullaby my grandmother used to sing to me. It was the first time I had ever sung it to anyone. After a moment, she looked up at me smiling, with tears in her eyes. Her grandmother used to sing the same exact lullaby to her.
This happens quite often in Alabama.
17] Today I turned 23. Since my 1st birthday, my dad's parents would send me the amount of money that corresponded with my age that year. I used to laugh at how they thought so much of so little money. They both passed away earlier this year. I would give anything for a $23 check from them today.
I could get two Cleaveland steamers and a hand job with $23.
18] Today, I had lunch with my 6 year old son. We talked about dinosaurs, Pokemon, and school. It’s the first time we’ve done this since I quit drinking and started therapy. And it was the most beautiful, simple, therapeutic conversation I’ve ever had.
Fuck. My life really sucks.
19] Today, simply because I was in the right place at the right time, I saved a little boy from drowning in the ocean.
Now I lay awake at night thinking about all the times I wasn't.
20] Today, my 75 year old grandma and I took the tram into Dublin's city centre. When we got on the tram there were no seats for my grandma to sit in. She was offered a seat by a well dressed African man. She happily obliged. When the man stood up, I realized he had a prosthetic leg.
I tore off his prosthetic leg and beat him with it. What can I say? I am a racist.
Are there any other sites like this? I am aware of http://www.fmylife.com/ and http://mylifeisaverage.com.
