"THIS is the kind of snooping you'd expect in China, not a modern western democracy." So says Andrew Heaney - who is a senior executive at TalkTalk, one of the UK's largest internet service providers. Along with other ISPs, his company faces the prospect of being forced to spy on its customers' downloads for signs of potential copyright infringement.

You know, I'm betting people wouldn't download so much content if new CDs weren't $15 and new DVDs weren't $25 and movie tickets weren't $10. If the RIAA and MPAA want to continue bitching about filesharing, they need to encourage studios to lower prices to a reasonable level.

so if i am doing a direct download from a Russian website through an encrypted tunnel what then? are they going to legalize a fucking cable company raping my privacy rights just to stop me from downloading a movie? im not so sure that would pass.
all you have to do is go on tv and tell jane and joe sixpack that their cable company will have access to LITERALLY EVERYTHING and they'll cry foul. stop the pirates, maybe, make a mockery of the 4th amendment so some fat cats in hollywood can get richer? not something i think the american people will swallow.

quincy0191Let's Kill Some Mofos!
The death penalty is a constant source of controversy in the United States, one of the last industrialized countries to keep the practice legal, and the only one to regularly kill people (Japan and South Korea have a de-facto moratorium on capital punishment). In fact, five countries are responsible for 95% of all executions worldwide: China, Iraq, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the US. Not great company, to say the least. Somewhere around fifty people are killed in th...
