On September 14, 2001 president Bush proclaimed emergency powers under acts from World War I and II. Usurping the powers under the emergency acts past and now enacted our actual “rule of law” is nothing more than rule by proclamation. While the ugly reality may not sit well with an American, looking the other way only allows more abuse. The time is well past an easy turning point and no election will change the current direction.

You know what, why don't you tell me how you think the legal system works if it doesn't function in the way I described.

Can you spell Fraud? Legal Fiction? Do you understand why "rule of law" is repugnant to the original Constitution for the united States of America?

You may enroll in one of my classes.

Stop dodging the arguments. You have not answered to a single of my argumentative points. Using big words and vague claims without backing them up does you no good. You're just like Bush.

All of the statues cited in this declaration deal only with authorizations for military personnel.

10 USC Sec. 123: Authority to suspend officer personnel laws during war or national emergency

10 USC Sec. 527: Officer strength and distribution

10 USC Sec. 2201(c): Authorization to make military manpower an exempted expense

10 USC Sec. 12006: Strength limitations

10 USC Sec. 12302: Activing of the Ready Reserve

14 USC Sec. 331: Recall to active duty during war or national emergency (Coast Guard)

14 USC Sec. 359: In times of war or national emergency, the Commandant may order any enlisted member on the retired list to active duty> (Coast Guard)

14 USC Sec. 367: Detention beyond term of enlistment (Coast Guard)

Tell me how I can sign up for one of your classes Mr. Siegel. I'd LOVE to learn how it is that allowing the military to retain junior officers means that the President is now ruling by proclimation.

Jeebus Rick, you're a tool.

If the checks and balances worked we wouldnt even be in iraq,as it stands the majority of americans do not support the war. They may support it because they want to make our soldiers feel better about what thier doing over there but americans could care less about iraq on the whole (well except the oil men in Texas). Bush stole the first election, remember that? He should'nt even have been in office to start this war in the first place. Rosevelt stayed in office nearly four terms (he died in his fourth term). Granted that he was fighting a completely different war and he had the vast majority of america supporting him. Do not think it isn't possible for Bush to do the same!

@Cradau, also, FDR was atleast a competent president.

I would personally be less worried about this and more worried about that thing that was passed a little while ago that allowed him to get more executive powers in some sort of national emergency. The wording in that thing was DANGEROUSLY vague.

The whole idea behind democracy is the government represents the people through elected officials. When Bush misrepresented bogus and old information about Iraq, then changed the reason for attacking to freeing the Iraqi's, even though they never asked for his freedom, he wasn't representing Americans. He was representing his cronies. Then he changed the reason to fighting terrorism, even though Iraq never attacked America. No country attacked America. A group of individuals backed by a rich Saudi attacked America.
This is what happens when one man has too much power.

The death penalty is a constant source of controversy in the United States, one of the last industrialized countries to keep the practice legal, and the only one to regularly kill people (Japan and South Korea have a de-facto moratorium on capital punishment). In fact, five countries are responsible for 95% of all executions worldwide: China, Iraq, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the US. Not great company, to say the least. Somewhere around fifty people are killed in th...
