Estimated 60 Million PCs Running Pirated Windows Vista

In excess of 60 million PCs per year running pirated Windows Vista would be a worst case scenario for Microsoft. The $40 billion loss that the software industry has to take is correlated with no less than over 35% of products being pirated. Sievert estimated that over 60 million machines each year end up with some form of pirated Windows on them.

I got XP when i bought a computer many years ago.
But have used a pirated copy since my first format/new computers.

Since you can only use your code on one computer, if you uninstall windows, you cant use it again and you have to buy a new copy, for 100$+.

Stealing money much?

The thing Microsoft doesn't realize is that if they allowed a copy of windows to be run on every computer in a household, and that copy would continue to work should a user buy a new system or upgrade and then reinstall the OS on their current machine, buying Windows would seem like a reasonable investment, rahter than a hassle. Would you consider it fair if you bought a PC or playstation game which would only work on the first system on which it was installed?

Plus, the $200 price tag doesn't help. For $50, I'll just buy it, for several hundred, I'm no computer wizard, but it suddenly becomes worth my while to invest enough time into figuring out how to pirate myself a copy, and dealing with all the bullshit that goes along with having a pirate copy...

They say piracy drives costs up, but the reverse is true. High costs drive piracy. Everybody needs an OS, and if the price were reasonable (in comparison to the effort needed to pirate a copy) people would buy.

Much happier with my pirated XP, a friend bought a new laptop the other day and it came with Vista...what a piece of monkeyshit, I tried to setup some stuff for him and it just enraged me.
Why is it windows insists on completely changing the look of their programs so that you don't know where any buttons are? They did it with IE7 which drives me mad because I have to use it over Firefox at work.
Fuck Microsoft, they deserve it

The title of this article is wrong. That would be 60 million people running a shitty OS. I got xphome as a bundle, which is the dog's ass so I run xp pro instead. I bought it once, that should be enough.

the4thwallOn Iran, From an American Iranian
I have an Iranian background, so throughout my life I've been bombarded with opinions on the country. Not only that, both my parents were involved in the late 70's revolution, and saw youth that helped Khomeini get to power being shot down by Khomeini's followers afterwards. That's the problem with revolutions, sometimes a power vacuum can destroy what could be a beautifull transformation. On top of that, I have dual citizen ship, and voted in the last election, whi...

KhramHappy Canada Day!
Today is the day the greatest nation that ever existed on Earth began 142 years ago. Canadians have much to be proud of. However, even the greatest nation on Earth still has its problems. The Russians threaten our airspace with their shitty planes and violate our sovereign waters with their submarines up in the Arctic. We should be shooting their planes down and sinking their subs as they cross our borders without warning. None of our politicians have the balls to at...
