There once was a 15 year old girl called xxprincesspunkxx, an avid youtube user who made many videos and posted them on her account since she was 14. Then one day after seeing a Fox News special on 'National Beatdown day', she made a video expressing her anger towards the day and posted it on youtube.
What followed changed her life considerably.
I’m here to share her story with you.
First off let me say, I am just sharing this story with you as I found it interesting to watch unfold. I’m just cataloguing the events so you can get all of the information from one place. Don’t shoot the messenger!
Our story begins when Youtube user; xxprincesspunkxx aka Jennifer Da Costa, posted a video response to a Fox News special she recently saw on ‘National Emo kid Beatdown day’. (You should start by watching this video as the whole story won’t make sense otherwise.)
Here’s the original video as reposted by
wobblebottom, cheers buddy:
As you can see, this “self-proclaimed spokesperson for the Emo Movement", rants and raves incoherently about how ‘her group’ are similar to that of oppressed ethnic groups. She contradicts her self many times and then proceeds to cry about it all. Then actually posts the video on the internet. Some might say she asked for it and that she thoroughly deserved what came next.
Fast forward to July ’07 when internet users un-earthed the video, as it was linked from person to person, group to group, it wasn’t long before a large faction of Youtube users had rallied against her in her whiny crybaby beliefs.
Needless to say the ownage kept flooding in, most noteable people who had found her on Myspace and face-book, and how they started taking some of her pictures and adding humorous captions to them and print screening ones from the original video and doing the same. Special thanks to
IIscottyII who put together a compilation of these pictures for all to see:
Even more lulz were had at her expense when people managed to get hold of her cell phone number and began prank calling her at late hours of ‘9.30’ in the evening…
Thanks to
gregthesac for providing this video:
Sooner or later she had enough of the cruel, unforgiving beast of the internet torturing her, so as of 7/17/07, xxprincesspunkxx aka Jennifer Da Costa deleted all her Youtube videos she’d been making since she was 14 years old. She made one last ‘goodbye’ video which along with the original video has survived on the internet through
wobblebottom, thanks again buddy:
So, she finally gave up. Some traces of her on the internet have been removed by her, yet a lot can still be found on her on the internet today. Such as her Myspace and Face-book and some other internet profiles she made on various sites.
I want to end this with a question, why was this girl targeted? She isn’t the only, in face she’s not even the first person to rant and rave on the internet in defense of Emo and scene kids, why was she the only girl to be really singled out and made fun of? Was it because of her many laughable contradictions? Or was it because she made a video of herself actually crying and leaving it unedited on Youtube?
No.It was because she had a massive bum chin. A massive one.
I hope you enjoyed the her story, it just goes to show how unforgiving and unrelenting the internet is. This girl is probably the most hated non-famous girl in the world. In a matter of hours she was transformed from a whiny cry-baby into the internets verbal punching bag.
Thanks for reading.
