According to the Sheriff’s office, deputy Scarborough informed the couple that they were illegally displaying the flag and attempted to issue Mr. Kuhn with a citation. Kuhn allegedly refused to show I.D. and slammed the door on Scarborough’s hand causing a glass pane to break, which cut the deputy’s hand. The Kuhns have a different story to tell.

This has been covered by several news sites. All charges were dropped though.

"Ok, question. If they intentionally wanted to show defiance to the government, why have a flag at all? Why cause unwarranted attention from those knuckle dragging primal animals who cry every time they see a US flag? They were asking for trouble if you ask me"

you don't make a statement, if you do not show it

so making a statement is asking for trouble? i think the statement then served it's purpose, since that is what they are protesting against

"Flying the flag like that is illegal (even though 2 cases have said its not)'

If the court of law has said it is legal, then it is legal regardless if you say it is not. It may be your opinion that it shouldn't be legal, but it IS legal.

"and it has nothing to with freedom of speech"

Actually it does. Destroying a flag has been fought numerous times in court and is protected under freedem of expression which is found in the constitution.

"There is a law which already over-rides the free speech law that says you are not allowed to fly the flag in any way that is shown as inappropriate."

I have never heard of such a law. If there is such a law that states that then it would probably be a state law and would be found as unconstitutional in federal court.

"The guy at that point in time is resisting arrest"

According to the story, it was never stated that the cop at that point was trying to arrest them. There can be no resisting arrest if the cop isn't trying to arrest them. At this point in time, the officer was talking to the couple. It may not have been wise to refuse to talk with the officer but it was not resisting arrest at that point in time. (Btw, there are instances in which you can walk away from an officer, but very few)

"the couple was doing something obviously wrong by resisting the officers inquiries.\"

First of all, this is speculation with no evidence. They were doing something wrong? You know, people can not want to talk to an officer whether they are doing nothing illegal or not. Don't speculate or assume something in this asinine way.

"So, even if the police officer was just coming to tell the couple it may be offensive to some people, just take it down"

Are you are telling them to give up their freedom of speech?

Here is some reading for you all..

Accordi
ng to the The O'Brien test - it is unconstitutional to have a flag desecration law if the only reason for having it is that people should respect the flag; i.e., there must be other reasons such as noise, traffic congestion, trespass, disorderly conduct, breach of peace.)

One person complaining is hardly a breach of peace.

You people are so wound up on the idea of respecting a flag (a symbol) that you've forgotten about your american rights to freedom of speech and refuse to acknowledge them.

Respect your constitutional rights. They are what makes this country so great. Not a flag.

Respect the flag. It's a symbol of the country you claim to love, yet piss on all the time.

Funny how the only people who want to desecrate the flag are assholes.

Isn't it funny the our pledge of allegiance says "I pledge allegiance to the flag..." you're allegiance isn't even going to the country its the flag. Talk about worshiping a false idol. Also, I'm pretty sure the US is the only (if not one of the very few) countries that actually has a pledge of allegiance.

@TheRealStuff

Oh, so that's what you're problem is. This whole time, you thought we were supposed to respect the flag, and not what it stands for. It all makes sense now.

I always knew you were a fucking moron.

"Respect the flag. It's a symbol of the country you claim to love, yet piss on all the time." was quoted by therealstuff.

You want us to respect a symbol of our country more than what the country is based off of? You would rather respect an inanimate object that is made in a factory than the ideas that this country is founded on? You find more nationalism in pieces of nylon fibers than in the ideas that formed this country and keep it running?

I'm telling people they should put forth the efforts to make this country greater for what it is based on and formed from, and you want to tell them to go forth and make effort over a piece of cloth that is only a SYMBOL of this country?

Where is your mind at? You must be one of these kids who thinks it's illegal express disagreement with your country over what it is doing depending on the circumstance. You sir, need a mind of your own. You sir therealstuff, need to learn a little bit about the constitution and your inalienable rights given herein this country to all of its citizens.

Now, if instead you had rather said respect what the flag stands for, which would be this country, instead of respect the flag, then maybe you would have something with some substantial value. But... you didn't.

What you are saying would be like me saying, respect the constitution as a piece of paper, not what it stands for because it is a SYMBOL of our past.

You apparently think symbols are more important than your inalienable rights as an american citizen. Why do you think so little of your rights as a citizen? I assume you are an american citizen correct? Perhaps you would rather live in a place with less rights since you don't value them much. A place like cuba would be fitting, would it not? Hell, if you move, I will even help you with the paperwork my friend.

quincy0191Infinity Ward VERSUS! Activision-Blizzard
The gaming world is abuzz with news of corporate villainy as Infinity Ward CEO Vince Zampella and president Jason West were fired last week under rather suspicious circumstances. According to reports, both employees were being “insubordinate” and their firing coincided with the arrival of some “bouncer types” on the Infinity Ward campus. This development just reeks of evil. The charges of insubordination are appropriately vague, and the additional fact that the firin...
