ShoutWire TV

Changes made to Wikipedia from an IP Address that resolves to Fox News, show a pattern of smearing Fox's rivals, including Al Franken, Keith Olbermann, and CNN, while removing damaging or embarrassing information to it's own reporters. We pored through the changes to produce a comprehesive list of what Fox News allegedly changed."

"After all, the Internet has a liberal bias. <-(sarcasm)"

Intended sarcasm, perhaps, but it's actually true. Just like colleges have liberal bias. Educated, well-to-do people tend to become liberal (usually out of guilt), and they are generally as vapid and brainless as their conservative cohorts.

This is why I try not to research politics on wiki. It is however great for nerdy stuff and simple science stuff.

Deeznuts: One word is amazingly important in some sentences. FOX has a bad habit of including words like 'some', 'suspected', 'possible', etc.

'There was another terrorist attack by suspected al-queda members' is quite abit different that 'There was another terrorist attack by al-queda'.

One is suspect, the other is absolute, yet when FOX and CNN use these words, most people don't recognize that the credibility of the story is only as good as it's source.

Many of the things the Bush government has accomplished was based on the skewing of legal jargon that the average person doesn't understand, or the 'suspected' guilt of terrorist forces/ reports so unfortunately we have to watch for these slight manipulations.

"This doesn't just show the bias of Fox news. It shows the problem with a concept like wikipedia's. "

I don't think it's a problem at all. A feature, not a bug. Sure, you'll have people editing it according to their various biases, but all those edits are well documented. I think the whole project illuminates biases that are hidden in other medium.

Anyway, as far as accuracy goes, attempts to measure have shown that Wikipedia's in the same league as any other encyclopedia.

MarsMarshOn Anxiety And Depression
P {text-indent: 30pt;}-->I just got off the phone from a few crisis hotlines. The people that I spoke with didn't help to ease my mind very much; regardless, I'm still grateful for their service. It's a service that I'd like to volunteer for one day. My anxiety isn't so bad anymore, but I credit that to the few lines of ritalin I've been blowing (note: I mentioned the fact on the phone, and no one said a thing about it!). I've exhausted all of my coping resource...

nodnarb232001Regarding The Recent Outages
The problems people have been experiencing in trying to get to the site should finally be solved. It seems that something went wrong that has to do with the doohikey that stores all the whosits that make the pictures appear and keeps this virtual rust-bucket running somewhat smoothly. Some bills didn't get paid on time, one of our hosts disabled stuff that had to do with one of the servers, families were shattered, lives were ruined, and the KGB may or may not be in...
