Not so startling to this writer is the sudden election year epiphany by “experts” of the repercussions of an illegal pre-emptive attack to install a compatible government in Iraq. The survey included Republicans and Democrat and was done by Foreign Policy magazine and the Center for American Progress.

Well, there is the ever present danger of allowing "experts" to form your opinions.

You need to be an expert to have common sense these days?

I love the "nonscientific" survey aspect. If you dig through the sources you'll find:

"No one currently working in an official U.S. government capacity was invited to participate."

No one from Al Qaida either... What an extraordinary coincidence...

@911eyewitness

In a nutshell, the survey lacks any statistical methodology to extrapolate any conclusions from the population of interest. Survey methodology is very exact when dealing with populations and sample sizes, especially on bound on sampling error. They of course, did none of that. So the results of the survey are quite frankly irrelevant as any academic concern is weighed in on it.

Of course though, since most people have never had any courses on sampling & survey design, they take shit at face value because they're uneducated in the subject matter to even question the methodology used for the survey and what inferences can be made from a properly designed sampling. This of course takes place way before a single person is surveyed. Also, it's very difficult to measure opinion as it has variance like anything else.

i've disagreed w/ rick (911eyewitness) in the past (like everything regarding 9/11), and this 'survey' isnt very good. BUT what it says is right.

the US IS in more danger because of those very reasons. but it doesnt take experts to know it. just read a little history. EVERY large society eventually falls. Greece, Rome, The British Empire, and now the US. we're being destroyed from within and without.

but i think you bigoted fuckhole europeans are in for a surprise if fighting actually starts up on the US soil. that will be the one thing that could probably inspire us pull together and do something for the good of us all (us as in the US, fuck the rest of the world) for once.

everyone bitches about our forign policy, except when their countries are cashing their checks from the US. our econimic troubles would go away if we werent funding every shithole of a country, sending money for any and every possible reason.

maybe we should change our policy to "America First and Only." then we could pull all of our troops out of whever they are all over the world, send them home to guard our borders. We wont get involved at all for any reason w/ any country.

but then you same bitches would be complaining that "the US ignored the worlds problems, we hate america!"

hey wait, thats kind of like your argument for the US' involvement in WWII. "The war didnt start in 1943, the US didnt get there till 'we' were almost finished anyway".

Rawl lets put it this way.

When you piss people off they get angry and tend to get violent, now multiply this by a couple of million and ask yourself, are you safer?

also who says this president won't screw up like he did on 9-11, with his trackrecord i'd say you will never be safe

and particle, we are paying your checks, where do you think your money comes from when you are at debt that much?
Our countries must continue to keep buying dollars(which is like throwuing away money instantly) to keep the dollar stable and pay for your countries spending.

Pull together? you are the single most devided western nation apart from belgium at this time.
Pull together, the reason you are lost IS because of your foreign policy, and this administration. You come across as a Luxurious Banana Republic these days (that ain't a good thing , even if you love bananas)
Your assumption that you give money away to every country in the world is based on your patriotism , not on fact.
In fact large amounts of your AID are going to israel and egypt in the form of weapons.
You are not the biggest bennefactor in this world, and will not be for a long time.

And the US never Ignored the worlds problems, it was a catalyst to many and an instigator to a lot.
Your america, the noble, beautifull, the honourable has never existed, it is the same type of propaganda Hitler Used to mute his people or in the case of nutcases like you, make em into ranting idiots.
In the end , the US is just as troubled as every other nation, welcome to the real world

Your policy is america first only, it has been for the last 100 years or so, there's so many examples, it is not even disputable.

Excellent rawl, thank you. I made a point of who did the survey, as they are a politically funded group too. I try to entertain discerning minds, as the rest would fall wherever anyway. I am not easy to read as I write for thinkers. The article got what I expected

particle - you got it, should not take any expert. Just some basic common sense is all someone should need. Have you ever lived in another nation or learned another culture? Did you know that China is bankrolling the USA right now? I think it was 80 percent right now?

100 years? A bit more. 1898 was when Americans started the empire. Until then the idea of a "colony" was repugnant to any real American. The first conquests, anyone?
