The Russians are at it again, planning to build the world's longest tunnel - a transport and pipeline link under the Bering Strait to Alaska - in a revival of their last tsar's (Nicholas II) pre-WWI scheme. Sounds a little irresponsible for a country that can't even perfect central heating, but they'll be Commies again by the time the project is complete, so they won't need to worry much about the citizens' situations or opinions.

How about a catapulting system. As long as there is snow on both sides it's safer, faster, and less expensive (Lemmings did influence me).

Yeah, but if you put a catapult there somone could screw it all up by putting a STOP man infront of it, then all the passengers would be back to square 1.

i think sombody in russia used a eurostar train and liked the idea lol, and it is really a matter of time before it will happen, or at least if everybody is sensible, it should happen, the tunnel would have alot of uses especially cos russians arn't really that rich. i bet they are all looking forward to it CHEAPER HOLIDAYS :p

Old habits die hard. Putin does seem to be teetering on the edge of a re-Sovietification of Russia. A lot of Russians who lived during that era really can't seem to understand how it all fell apart so easily and so fast. They could just ask me, and I'd tell them: they were on the losing side.
And there was me thinking that something similar to what happened in Red Dawn could never happen after 1991. What could be more fun that hanging with Patrick Swayze, calling yourselves 'Wolverines' and shooting Commies? Nothing - that's what.

Glad no one's asking. They obviously didn't lose to America. USSR was a house of cards and rot from within. Regan, Plan B intel, and CIA drug running did nothing to collapse the union. Watch Adam Curtis's Power of Nightmares episode 1.

As far as the tunnel, sure, sure, crazy idea, people say. What intelligent person would think such a thing possible? You would obviously be ignorant of the man Crowned by Members of United States Congress and head of the Universal Peace Federation, Sun Myung Moon, and his plan for a Peace King Tunnel/Bridge to connect the Asian and North-American land masses through the Bering Strait.

Speaking of CIA drug running, GHWB's son Neil Bush, of Silverrado Savings and Loan fame, is a part of the Ambassadors for Peace program of the Universal Peace Federation and supports crazy ideas like the transportation tunnel.

Im sure there would be international support not only from those mentioned in the article but from the head of the U.N. an unconfirmed, those they won't deny, Moonie. Of course it all makes sense. The melting of the northern polar cap, due to an increased solar wind, causing global warming, will open up a shipping lane across the top of the earth exploding Eastern trade to North America.

The question is... how does this tie into the Guarani Aquifer in Uruguay and the vast amounts of land on top of it that our Prez along with the Unification Church recently purchase?!?!?!?!? Riddle me that batman
