Just a collection of thoughts about the situation of giving soldiers wounded in the Iraq war my respect. The serious part of this blog is in the post-script.
So, what's with the expected sympathy for, ahem, "war heroes" of the Iraq war. What makes these people heroes? This shit really grinds me gears and we'll find out just why inside. Please, hold your bullshit until the end of the article. I'm sure you're very opinioned, just like me, and you'll want to spout your mouth off before even finishing the article. That's the Shoutwire way (unfortunately). However, just keep your fucking mouth shut for 10 minutes.
So, why don't I think these people involved in the Iraq Oil War are heroes? Surely they are, right? They've fought for their country to keep us free. So I can sit right here in my room and hurl abuse at people over the internet, drink copious amounts of Coca Cola and smoke myself into a stupor nightly? They fought for all that? I highly doubt it. They fought for the money. If you'd've asked these people to go to Iraq Without pay, do you think they would? No, would they bollocks. So, I consider that little theory moot and voided. Soldiers don't fight for free unless it's a matter of life or death. Perhaps, like The Nazi's knocking on the door and asking if they can come in for some marzipan and crumpets.
Ok, so what else makes these people heroes? Oh, yeah, I remember now; they're fighting the good fight against terrorists! Of course, how can I forget that one, it's only the bullshit we've been told for 7 years. Right, ok, so the soldiers are fighting the evil terrorists who are actually just a nonentity created by the CIA and of which, various radical Islamic groups have picked up on and decided that's what we're calling them these days and decided to adopt the name. Said groups have become extremely active over the last 7 years, yet, here's the amusing thing, I can barely think of a single time our troops have counter acted any of these groups or stopped a terrorist attack. Our troops are fighting to kill the evil terrorists but have failed to stop a single terrorist attack! I mean, please, let's not think of the Glasgow Airport fiasco, because that a complete bungle, plus it was the Metropolitan Police that ended up saving the day. The troops were busy at the otherside of the world.
Ok, so we're fighting the evil terrorists? So, who are they? Well, sorry to say, but no-one fucking knows. We know Saddam had Weapons of Mass Destruction, fo' sho, but we have no idea who the terrorists are. That makes them a very convenient enemy indeed. We're fighting an enemy we don't even know exists and we don't know if we've stopped. Great. Of course, to put a public picture on things so it's not wholey obvious that the War of Terror is a sack of shit, we're given "The Taliban" who are basically a Muslim movement who wanted to keep their traditions and ideology to themselves. Please, let's not hear of how evil they were or how barbaric their laws were. Why do I say that? Because that's what Afganistan was like before we invaded. It was nothing to do with us. Not our business. Not our problem. If the Afgan people were so mistreated they would eventually rise against. So, yeah, by our definition the Taliban were a set of cunts, but it was not our business to invade them and over throw them just because we disagreed with a few laws they had. If that's the case, why aren't we invading China or Pakistan? That's right, because those are allies that have important assets we need. Anyway, I digress, the point here is that the Taliban were fuck all to do with the WTC and they aren't the terrorists we're looking for.
So, what's my problem with "helping people"? I clearly have mental health issues because I don't believe in helping those in dyer need, right? Surely? No, wrong. I just didn't see fit to invade Afganistan. Now, let's take Sudan, Somalia or Zimbabwe. Those countries are in desperate need of our help. As responsible, developed, nations we should have invaded those shitholes long ago and set up governments for the people. We should have invaded Burma the second they refused foreign aid. Those are true humanitarian causes that we should be rallying behind. But no, we're stuck invading Afganistan and Iraq, the former, of which, was better off without us for fuck sake. However, I'll leave Iraq out of this article almost entirely.
So, what the fuck, world?
I'm sorry, but if we're not invading nations that are in desperate need of help then the soldiers fighting are simply tools of the government and do not deserved to be called heroes until they do something heroic. I'm sure saving a troop from an IED is a heroic deed in the eyes of those who were saved, but in my eyes it's just your own stupid fault for being there in the first place without a good reason. We're not fighting wars in the middle east because we're just that fucking kind. We have an agenda and it's an illegal one. So stop calling these arseholes heroes and start realising they're victims of circumstances. It's their own fault. They volenteered.
Thank you and fuck off.
P.S
I'd like to point out that this article is written with extreme prejudice. The soldiers who have been wounded in whatever the fuck we want to call this conflict deserve our best treatment, help and support. But respect? No.
