A few morally wrong idea's to fix this recession.
With all the talk of bailouts and recession and everything to do with the economic downturn, I have come up with a few ideas that a government could instill to save some money. Some of them are admittedly quite morally terrible, but, nevertheless they would probably help!
1)This one is a very spartan doctrine; firstly, all terminally ill and mentally handicapped citizens would be euthanized by the cheapest means possible (other then the firing squad) through a chemical injection. However, a definition of terminally ill most be applied: Any person who is past the age of 65 who has less then a 60 percent probability of recovering from their sickness; because if a young body can overcome their specific ailment its better to have them back on the workforce. Furthermore, after the initial mentally handicapped population is removed, genetic testing at birth and subsequent euthanasia of genetically damaged children would abolish the need to expel resources in care of the mentally handicapped. The euthanasia of the terminally ill and the handicap would help save money as well as give doctors more time to treat other patients and work on cures for terminal patients.
2)Next, every criminal who is serving a life sentence will be killed by firing squad, as well as anyone who has served a jail sentence and gets arrested again for a similar felony; an alternative to the two-time felons death is to create a convict unit within the military where they would be forced to serve or face their death. While this may create a sort of Darwinian Natural Selection for criminals, it will free up many prisons and their personnel as well as slacken the management costs and expensive execution costs of criminals.
3)Cut the bureaucracy crap. If something needs to be done, do it. For instance the two things above would probably cost more to put in action in our current systems than they would hypothetically save. Unless we had governments capable of action! I know democracy is everyones best friend, but in times of need and desperation we cannot wait for back and forth debate ... we need to act.
4)The education system. Once citizens get to high school (grades 9 to 12) everything below an overall average of 60% is a failing grade. In the early years (elementary or primary school) you stay in the systems on a pass fail basis, if you fail you redo if you pass you advance, but once in the high school system if you fail (under the above guidelines) for two consecutive semesters your education is forfeit and you are enrolled in the military. Once out the the high school system (with passing grades) you are free to stop your education or pursue higher levels.
5)Cease all welfare money. If you have a physical disability you can type or at least still think, so you can still work, if your circumstances put you on welfare it is time to change them. Give all current welfare holders a time period to arrange employment, or else make it available to them, with two options: military or work farms. Work farms and make work projects will focus on construction of renewable energy sources (wind farms, solar farms etc etc).
6)Cease all publication of paper based books, newspapers, etc. While initially this would likely cause bankruptcies its for the best. All publications must be electronic; however of course multiple backup copies would be created in physical form just in case.
7)What are we going to do with this new more massive military? Secure a more global foothold.
These are just a few ideas.... anyone else have any?
